Introduction to Welding

No more road-trips. This welding class is in the new workshop. Come discover the joy of welding.

* Persons who donated money during our campaign to get the space will be allowed to attend at no cost, but please coordinate with me. We need to generate enough money to keep the space open so only a few at a time.

** If you happen to be feeling extra generous please donate extra so that I can return the borrowed CO2 bottle and buy additional steel for practice and future classes.

Required: You must be wearing appropriate clothing to attend.

Clothing includes cotton long sleeve shirt, jeans or leathers and closed toed shoes. Stay away from nylon clothing or shoes. Don't wear clothing you care about.

We will provide the rest of the safety equipment but we only have enough for one person to wear it at a time. If you want to bring your own helmet that would be very handy for you.

We will:

Discuss safety, equipment and materials. We will be working with steel only in this session.

Lab: Setup and weld using a MIG welder. We will be doing some basic joining of metal. If you want to bring something small you can but depending on size, material and time we may not allow you the opportunity; feel free to reach out to me before attending.

You should be able to walk away with a basic understanding of how to weld. If we feel you got the basics down enough to be safe and use the machine safely you will be allowed to use the welder.
